Cognitive Behaviour Theory
“There is a space between stimulus and reaction. In this space lies our power to react. In our reaction lies our development and our freedom.” – Viktor Frankl

Implementation in practice
Cognitive Behaviour Theory assumes that we cannot change anyone but ourselves. And not even that: we cannot adapt our behaviour without getting to the underlying level of our assumptions. Our assumptions drive our behaviour. However, if we question our assumptions, we open up perspectives and new approaches to solutions that would otherwise remain hidden from us.
If you cannot resolve the circle, the following questions may help:
- Is your perception an assumption or a fact?
- How could you interpret the event differently?
- How would a person react if they had a completely different assumption about the same event?
- What could you take away from this for yourself?
