How a job is created

We often believe that we are laying a good foundation for a career through education and training.
We also believe that this career can be made, i.e. that it is controlled by others. You just have to wait for the right opportunities and then apply for them with the right qualifications and – poof – you’re on your way.
Unfortunately, this is not how it works in practice. 80% of jobs are not created this way, they are created on the “grey market”. The video explains how this works.
Implementation in practice
- Think about what you would actually like to achieve, what your relevant market is?
- This doesn’t always have to be in your traditional environment (see also the 5 options for professional reorientation) and it doesn’t have to be a full-time commitment. But perhaps you would like to work on a project? Or work in a different environment/area for part of your working time?
- Then look for suitable decision-makers at Société Générale. Who might be interested in what you would like to do or offer?
- Then discuss how you can give the idea strength.
It is worth “creating” your position in this way. And practice proves it: 80% of opportunities are created in this way, on the grey market, before they are even advertised.
