Qualifications are what you are qualified to do, what you have trained for and what you have gained a diploma for.
Competences are what you enjoy doing and what you do well.
They don’t always have to go together. And it certainly doesn’t have to add value in practice.
If you want to utilise your potential, you would do well to become aware of this connection.
Implementation in practice
Most people have the idea that their potential is the sum of what they are good at and enjoy doing. That may be true. But if this combination does not add value, the potential remains unutilised in the corporate environment.
So ask yourself:
- What added value do I create through what I am good at and enjoy doing?
This opens your eyes to real needs and thus to often unimagined opportunities.
